History

The MRAEC formed in 1960 with six executives’ association meeting in Lansing. They established an organization under MAR and set up a meeting schedule to correspond with MAR meetings. Officers were elected and the group grew into the MRAC. In 1998, the MREAC had approximately 50 members.

Once formed, the MRAEC began with 12 paid executives associations, which grew following a directive from NAR to have a paid AE for every association. The title of the chief staff position evolved from ‘Secretary’, to ‘Executive Secretary’ to ‘Executive Officer’ to ‘Executive Vice President’ to AE.

MRAEC is the only independent ‘council’ in the country. Other areas have committees of Association Executives that operate under NAR or state associations.
