MOTION/SUPPORT to accept the minutes from the September 2004 meeting.
MOTON/SUPPORT to approve the Treasurers report. Carried
MOTION/SUPPORT to approve up to $300 to maintain the MRAEC website.
MOTION/SUPPORT to request that NAR suspend quadrennial Training until they are more organized and better prepared. Discussion
MOTION WITHDRAWN – President Patty Young will pass along our thoughts and concerns about Enforcement and Content at the NAR Midyear meeting.
MOTION/SUPPORT to accept the changes to the MRAEC statement of Purpose and Policies. Carried.
MOTION/SUPPORT to modify the statement of organizational purpose to allow staff of REALTOR® organizations to vote and hold elective office. Carried. 1 opposed.
Agreed to change all “EOCs” in the plan to “MRAEC”
There are 200 attendees at this year’s Leadership meeting, which are 30 more than last year. He thanked the AE’s for preparing their Delegates for their meeting.
The State of
MAR is getting involved with NAR’s Family Time Video and will be giving them out at the Broker Summit and the Convention as gifts.
A report was given on NAR’s Organizational Standards Program. A joint work group concluded that NAR has a responsibility to maintain minimum operating standards for its locally chartered associations and that current Organizational Standards should be retained (including the certification process). State associations will begin to use the new electronic certification process this year, however MAR has not received any detailed procedures to date from NAR. They are currently beta testing two states.
CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 – The law became effective January 1, 2004. The majority of MAR’s communication will not be considered commercial. MAR has made every effort to comply with this law and encourage local associations and boards to do the same.
The 2005 Legal Update had been approved for CE credit.
The date for this year’s Broker Summit will be April 13, 2005 and MAR will start accepting reservations.
