MAR Update:

  • Rob Compau gave a report on the Agency Responsibility Act.  He will send an email with the talking points.  He also reported that the Sellers Disclosure is going to be amended.  The following will be added to the seller’s disclosure statement effective January 1, 2006:

Buyer should obtain professional advice and inspections of the property to more fully determine the condition of the property.  These inspections should take indoor air and water quality into account, as well as any evidence of unusually high levels of potential allergens including, but not limited to, household mold, mildew and bacteria.

  • Kathie Feldpausch reported that MAR has a new Director of Communications, Corie Costello.  She thanked all of the associations for their assistance in marketing the MAR convention particularly the host association, Central Michigan AOR.  She also thanked the local association sponsors for their financial support of the convention and expo.  There are over 100 booths, 1300 participants and 26 courses approved for CE.  The Delegate Body meeting will be held on Thursday morning.  Delegates will be voting on the NAR Directors and both 2006 and 2007 dues amounts.  Under the guidance of Chair Laura Schlecte and the Equal Opportunity/Fair Housing Committee, MAR has created a Fair Housing Training kit for a broker/manager to deliver in-house training for fair housing (everyone received a copy of the kit).  MAR is working with the Fair Housing Centers and the National Fair Housing association on several initiatives this year.   The first 4 commercial forms, based on the CAR forms, are being completed by a task force and will be released via mirealtors.com in early October.  Another 10 forms are in the pipeline.

Ed Hartfield,  Executive Director of CAS, was introduced as the new MAR provider for Arbitration Services.  He gave a report and offered that they are available for local association workshops.   Formal packets will be sent out and Bobbie will put onto the website.

There was no other business and the meeting was adjourned at 3:40pm.  The next meeting will be in January at Achieve in Grand Rapids.
